Additional Educational Needs (AEN) or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

At Rusthall St. Paul’s Primary School we endeavour to be inclusive, providing equal access for all our pupils. It is our aim to identify, assess and meet the Additional Educational Needs (AEN) of children, through specific targeted support from teachers and teaching assistants. We offer individual learning programmes for a number of children as identified by their specific needs. We work closely with the Local Education Authority (LEA), health and social services. Our AEN Governor reviews the Additional Needs Policy each year. Any adjustments are made and approved by the Teaching and Learning Committee. The AEN Governor monitors the delivery of support on a regular basis.

At Rusthall St. Paul’s we cater for pupils of all abilities. We identify children who are more able and aim to provide varied activities to support them in reaching their full potential. We collaborate with other schools to provide enrichment programmes in a variety of subjects.

Parents are informed by letter at the beginning of each academic year if their child has been identified as having Special Educational Needs or Disabilities (SEND). The parents of children with Special Educational Needs are invited to contact the SENCo at any time if they wish to discuss any aspect of their child’s education and/or welfare.
